Tuning the CPU and GPU of my Xiaomi Air 2018 to play Overcooked without studder.

Overcooked is a fun and fast couch coop computer game. But it is badly optimized, thus a little tweaking is necessary to have it run without fps drops.

Tuning the CPU and GPU of my Xiaomi Air 2018 to play Overcooked without studder.

In conclusion one has to take into consideration the following points:
* how well can the notebook breathe. I noticed that a notebook stand may help with cooling and thus performance.
* how well is the game optimized
* what are the quality settings in the nvidia driver
* what are the ingame graphic settings
For overcooked the trick was giving the notebook better breathing room, disabling cpu turbo and lowering the texture rendering quality to "performance" in the nvidia driver.

Baseline Setup

CPU Turbo Enabled
GPU Factory

CPU Mark: 7533
Cinebench: 1100
3DMark Skydiver: 8785

NVIDIA GPU Enabled or Disabled makes a difference of 5deg, but there is no difference in the CPU benchmark score.

Tweaking the GPU

Texture Filtering Quality set to "High Performance"
Power Management Mode set to "Prefer Max Performance"

3DMark Skydiver: 8874

Tweaking the GPU and disable CPU Turbo

Disabled CPU Turbo
Texture Filtering Quality set to "High Performance"
Power Management Mode set to "Prefer Max Performance"

3DMark Skydiver: 8575
